Services

Servicing is normally required every 12 months or 10,000 miles depending on the manufacturer. Minor servicing is carried out between major services. Even though it's called a minor service that doesn't just mean an oil and oil filter change. I will also carry out a full inspection of the vehicle including brakes, suspension and steering components, check the strength, condition and top up all engine bay fluids, adjust tyre pressures including the spare and grease all hinges, latches and locks.

Major servicing is normally carried out every 20,000 to 40,000 miles or two to four years depending on the manufacturer. This includes everything in the minor service plus replacement of all serviceable items such as air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs and pollen filter/cabin filter. With access to all main dealer servicing schedules we can carry out the correct service for your vehicle.

Brake fluid has hygroscopic properties which means it can absorb moisture. Moisture reduces the boiling point of brake fluid and in extreme cases can cause brake failure. To ensure this doesn't happen most manufacturers recommend replacement every two years.

Coolant replacement intervals vary from two to ten years depending on the manufacturer. I check the strength and condition of the anti-freeze on every service I carry out.

We all know how important brakes are, if you have the slightest concern about your brakes it's always best to get them looked at. Most cars now have brake pad wear sensors which tell you when the pads are low, it's best to get them replaced as soon as you can when you get the warning.

MOT's are a legal requirement. Vehicles need an MOT when they are three years old then every year after that. You can have your MOT carried out up to a month before the expiry date. The extra time incurred will be added to your new MOT certificate.

Warning lights? Poor running? Funny noises? All of this comes under diagnostics. Whatever the problem may be, I am able to come and give you answers and solutions. 

Warning lights on but no noticeable problems? Vehicle control modules can detect issues that don't currently affect the vehicles drivabilty straight away but if left it could leave you with a nasty surprise. A simple component failure can have a drastic knock on affect to other components if left.

There is nothing worse than getting into your car, turning the key and.......nothing. If you feel your battery performance has dropped or your vehicle is struggling to start, get it checked. I will carry out a battery test, starting test and charging test. Every battery I supply comes with a three year warranty.

Suspension faults can occur from wear and tear, knocking curbs or hitting pot holes. Suspension failure signs can vary from knocking noises to poor handling to excessive tyre wear.

Noises when you push the clutch pedal down? No drive when gears are selected? Engine revving high but vehicle moving slowly? These are all signs of a failing or failed clutch or release bearing. 

Timing chains serve the same purpose as a cambelt but unlike cambelts they don't normally have a replacement interval. However timing chains can stretch over time and cause rattling, running issues and warning lights on your dashboard.

Cambelt replacement is an essential part of vehicle maintenance and must be replaced in line with manufacturer's instructions. Cambelt failure in most cars will cause engine damage and in some cases it will not be cost effective to repair.
